Well, my adventure today wasn't exactly a success and wasn't exactly a failure. I had been craving bread pudding, and all of the recipes I found online were for huge amounts. I only wanted to make 1-2 servings, so I thought that I would improvise. Here's the recipe I used:
1 cup stale bread, cubbed
1 egg
4 oz. half and half
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 T chopped dark chocolate
1 T chopped almonds.
I baked it for about 30 minutes at 350. The texture was great, it was warm and gooey, but no where near sweet enough. After I took my first few bites, I realized I forgot to put any sugar in the recipe! Damn.
I think this recipe will work again, but I need to sweeten it up. Maybe adding 2-3 T of sugar will help? Will that be enough?
ETA:Aaaand I got a dragon egg, because all the cool kids have one:

Take a small handful of chocolate chips and melt them in the microwave. Stop every 30 seconds to stir until melted smoothly.
Take your favorite fruit (I used an apple since I had one handy), slice it up, and dip it in the melted chocolate.
omgYUM!
Also tastes really good with pretzels, but sadly, I was out of those.

I've been saving this recipe from Real Simple for a while, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. The paper recipe keeps ending up underneath the fridge, so I'm putting here to save it for later. ( Read more... )
I have been craving zucchini in many different forms lately. Good thing it's summer, and it's cheap and available everywhere. One of my favorite ways to eat is is breaded and fried, but since I'm trying to eat healthier, that's pretty much a no-no. Instead, I tried dipping the slices in egg whites, placing it in a bag with some grated parmesan cheese and pasta seasoning, shaking it up, and baking it for about 15 minute at 350. The cheese browns nicely, the seasoning makes it tastier, and I get something pretty close to fried zucchini.
